Development and qualification of LZVS 7.0 release will be completed in September

The Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) informs that in September the development and qualification of the Latvian Medicines Verification System (LZVS) 7.0 release will be completed.

Work on the updated version of LZVS began in the summer of 2024, with various activities carried out sequentially during the development process. In April this year, the LZVS developer Arvato Systems GmbH organized training for end-user IT providers on the functionalities of the new release. In July, the system qualification process was launched: the execution and verification of joint user acceptance tests (jUAT) and interoperability tests (IOT). Throughout September, testing of the updated system version in the test environment will continue. At the initiative of LZVO, limited-scale user acceptance tests (UAT) were also carried out in Latvia at the beginning of September.

It is planned that the LZVS 7.0 release will be deployed in the production environment in October this year.

The new LZVS release mainly contains technical changes, without impact on LZVS end-users. Infrastructure improvements, including the elimination of security vulnerabilities, are intended to further ensure system stability and adequate performance for system users. The interface version v5 will continue to be available for end-user connections.

The updated version 7.0 includes the following infrastructure improvements:

  • Enhanced security requirements to continue ensuring system stability and performance for system users,
  • Improved user experience in the graphical interface portal WebGUI, with upgraded password reset functionality,
  • Resolution of previously identified minor issues.

In the reporting system, the most significant changes will affect the I.1 investigation report for national competent authorities (NCA). In the new version, it will be possible to add additional information on L1-4 level errors, without reflecting technical system operations, in order to provide a clearer picture of the history of suspicious package activities. In addition, NCAs will be able to choose whether to use the I.1 report with only national-level data or with data from across Europe.

LZVO expresses gratitude to all parties involved for their contribution to ensuring that LZVS will continue to provide the highest level of security and offer system users the most convenient and efficient IT solutions possible.

It is planned that the LZVS 7.0 release will be deployed in the production environment in October this year.
