Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO), in light of the announcement of the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers regards to Covid-19, took the decision to work remotely. LZVO performs all functions, provides verification system operation, supports telephone and e-mail.

9 February marked one year for the new medicine verification, or safety checking system that was introduced in Latvia simultaneously with 27 other European countries. Its purpose is to eliminate the risk of counterfeit drugs being issued or sold to patients. During the year, users in Latvia – at pharmacies and health institutions – have checked and removed almost 22 million medicine packages.
