In May and August 2026, the European Medicines verification organisation (EMVO) sent announcements to On-Boarding Partners (OBPs) about planned updates on the European Hub (EU Hub) side. These updates are necessary to support a more stable, secure and technically resilient European Medicines Verification System (EMVS).
About schema migration
EMVO encourages all OBPs to complete their migration to the latest schemas in a timely manner. Schema 2018.1 is still in use, however, EMVO recommends migrating to the latest available Schema 2021.1.
From January 2027, when the EU Hub is upgraded with Release 1.20, users will have access to the newest and recommended Schema 2026.1. Schema version 2018.1 will continue to be available after Release 1.20.
OBPs that have not yet migrated to Schema 2021.1 can choose either to migrate to this schema first or, after January 2027, migrate directly to Schema 2026.1. Although all three schemas will continue to operate and remain functional after January 2027, EMVO recommends choosing the latest, most stable, secure and sustainable Schema 2026.1.
Changes to endpoints and certificates
The new endpoints and certificates are expected to be published by EMVO by the end of 2026. OBPs planning to migrate to Schema 2021.1 or 2026.1 must complete the migration process by March 2027, after which the existing endpoints will be deactivated.
To ensure the continuity of EMVS operations, pharmaceutical manufacturers and parallel importers/distributors are encouraged to contact their IT service provider to check their current schema and discuss the migration process to the new endpoints.
To provide information on changes to endpoints and certificates, as well as the latest schemas, their benefits and the migration process, including the timeline, EMVO is organising an online webinar. Registration and further information: EU HUB Release 1.20 - Schema Change Webinars - EMVO
In addition, on 20 October 2026, OBPs will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop held in person in Brussels and online, focusing on the latest changes and developments in EMVS. Further information and registration: FMD Implementation Workshop - EMVO
