The Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) sent a letter to heads of all hospitals of Latvia, informing about the Falsified Medicines Directive and Delegated Regulation, coming into force thereof and applicability.
It was highlighted in the letter that in accordance with the Regulation and regulatory enactments in Latvia, hospitals are among the persons, which are entitled to supply inhabitants with medicines and they shall have to perform verification of medicines. In the letter hospitals were informed on the society LZVO and purposes thereof. In order to prepare for introduction of the Latvian Medicines Verification system (LZVS) in a timely manner, the management of hospitals was invited to provide information to LZVO in writing by 26 May 2017, specifying contact persons, with whom to communicate further on regarding the introduction works of the Directive, and employees, with whom to communicate regarding adding of the IT systems of wholesalers to LZVS.
