2024. gada 9. februārī aprit 5 gadi, kopš visā Eiropā un arī Latvijā darbojas zāļu verifikācijas sistēma. Šo piecu gadu laikā Latvijas zāļu verifikācijas sistēmā ir pārbaudīti un nodoti drošai lietošanai iedzīvotājiem 126,8 miljoni zāļu iepakojumu.

The European Medicines Verification System, operating since 2019 in accordance with the EU Directive and Delegated Regulation, is a comprehensive, pan-European system covering all EU and EEA countries, connecting 2,800 pharmaceutical companies, 4,000 wholesalers, 110,000 pharmacies and 6,000 hospital pharmacies online, including all Latvian end users.

February 9, 2024, will mark 5 years since operations of a medicine verification system began across Europe and Latvia. The system’s purpose is to ensure that all people receive only safe medicines, eliminating the possibility of counterfeit drugs reaching patients through legal supply chains. Over time, the number of checked and decommissioned medicine packages in the Latvian Medicine Verification System (Latvijas zāļu verifikācijas sistēma – LZVS) has gradually increased, the proportion of alerts has decreased, and the LZVS end user registration system has been fully sorted.

On November 27, 2023, a General Assembly meeting of stakeholders of the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) was held, where the strategy and budget for 2024 were approved.

The Finnish medicine verification system, FiMVO has changed its system developer from the previous partner, Arvato GmbH, to Solidsoft Reply.
