On May 12, at the European Medicines Verification Organisation’s (EMVO) General Assembly meeting, the NMVO Observers within EMVO’s Board for 2023 from the National Medicines Verification Organizations (NMVOs) were approved. As one of the observers representing the group of small-scale countries, will be the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) and its Chairwoman of the Board Inese Erdmane.

Latvian Medicines Verification System’s (LZVS) developer Arvato has prepared the next Core release 2.0, which will replace the current version 1.11. With the new version of the Core release, several functional changes and improvements will be introduced, including Brexit changes – activation of additional response codes, as well as strengthening of system security.

The Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) in the fifth issue of the Newsletter (April 2023) looks back at the celebration of the fourth anniversary of the medicine verification system and looks at the current affairs of the first quarter of 2023.

In the first quarter of 2023, slightly more than 27 million checked packages reached the population. Since the start of the system’s operation in 2019, more than 300 million packages of medicines were checked in the system, according to data collected by the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO).

The Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) has compiled the performance indicators of the Latvian Medicines Verification System (LZVS) for the 1st quarter of 2023 regarding the transactions made in the system, end-users and alerts and their most frequent causes.

On April 20 and 21 of this year, the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) in cooperation with Arvato Systems GmbH in Riga organized two-day working group seminars for Quality and IT Operations Managers of National Medicines Verification Organisations (NMVOs) to evaluate the achieved results and plan the further development of the medicines verification system.

The European Medicines Verification Organisation (EMVO) has launched a newsletter, which looks back on the past four years of the verification system’s operation, informs about the launch of the European Alert Management System (EAMS) and provides an opportunity to look into the first European Medicines Verification System’s (EMVS) forum, which was also attended by the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) representatives Inese Erdmane and Andra Pučko.

On March 23, 2023, a General Assembly of the Latvian Medicines Verification Organisation (LZVO) was held, where the report on the most significant work done in 2022 was presented, as well as the most pressing issues related to the verification system were discussed.
