The Latvian Medicines Verification Organization (LZVO) is launching The Newsletter No. 7, where you can find the most important information about events in the world of medicines verification in the third quarter of 2023 as well the story of the Polish verification organization experience.

The European Medicines Agency has issued a warning that falsified diabetes medicine has been found in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Therefore, the Latvian Medicines Verification Organization urges residents to purchase medicine only at legal public and online pharmacies.

In 2019 the Polish Medicines Verification Organization (PLMVO) have implemented a robust verification system, which is a part of European Medicines Verification System (EMVS) in European Union. The Polish Medicines Verification System (PLMVS) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and authenticity of medicines in the supply chain in Poland.

In the 3rd quarter of 2023, 26.9 million transactions have been performed in the Latvian Medicines Verification System, of which 7 million packages were decommissioned and supplied to patients.

The German Federal Institute for Medicines and Medical Devices (BfArM) has confirmed that the medicines verification system in Germany has detected a counterfeit versions of medicine Ozempic®, which were promptly removed from circulation and has not reached the patients.

On October 16, the Latvian Medicines Verification System (LZVS) will be updated with the Core release 3.0, which will replace the current one.
